'Go For Miles Just to Listen'

"We didn’t have no radio until 1934. I was born in 1918. We didn’t have no radios or no nothing. But after that I remember ‘Amos and Andy,’ The ‘Grand Ole Opry.’ It would start at 8 o’clock and it would go off at 12. People would go for miles just to listen to their ‘Grand Ole Opry.’ Most couldn’t hear it on account of the static."
