Thomas Jefferson Latham (3/10/1883 - 3/18/1931)

"I tell you what my consensus, (from) Dr. Sanford and Dr. White, was this. Everybody that knew him knew how he loved every one of us. Mom included. And he figured that he wasn’t going to be anything but just a dreaded burden on Mother and all this bunch of kids. And he did not dare to even let that cross his mind. But he didn’t want to leave them. He wanted to take them with him. That’s what I think." -- T.J. Latham, his son.
Read more in W. Jeff Bishop's new novel, A Cold Coming, in February, 2013.
